Who doesn’t love Star Wars?

Millions of people around the world LOVE this great story about a lost hero in a broken world who discovers a mentor who gives our hero a magical gift so he can achieve his true potential.

Sounds exciting, right?

A truly compelling story that stirs the emotions. Imagine if you could sell that way.

It definitely sounds a lot more interesting than “we have this lightsaber retailing for $19.99 that can easily cut through anything and offers great light so you can see in the dark”.

As modern salespeople we have become increasingly aware about the value of asking great questions and listening to our customer’s needs. Yet we have invested so little time in learning how to present our solutions.

Many bankers and salespeople default to simply selling the features and benefits of your products/services rather than engaging your customer by telling them compelling stories about how you made life better for other customers.

 

Create your own Compelling Story

Consider this …. your customer is the lost hero who is living in a broken world and unable to achieve their true potential. YOU can be their mentor with a magical gift that helps make their world better so they can become a great hero.

And before you think that sounds far-fetched, reflect on what sales pitch sounds better …..

“Would you be interested in our low interest rate credit card with a pre-approved limit of $1,000?”

or

“Did you know that most people aren’t aware of the high interest rate they are paying on their credit cards? Over the past month we have made many customers happy by saving them hundreds of dollars on their credit card bills. Would you like to see how easy it is for you to save?”

The customer’s buying decision will always be driven by their emotional reaction or expectation. And what better way to engage with someone emotionally than by telling them a great story.

Rethink the way you sell and start telling compelling stories that takes your customer on an emotional journey and makes them feel good about their decision to buy from you.
